Diana Elvidge awarded Florence Nightingale Medal, London

Oct. 10, 1979 - Princess Alexandra Presents The Florence Nightingale Medal To Miss Diana Elvidge At the British Red Cross Society, Grosvenor Crescent, London, Princess Alexandra presented to Miss Diana Elvidge, with the highest International Red Cross Nursing award, The Florence Nightingale medal, sometimes called the nurses VC. It is presented every other year to a maximum of 36 nurses or voluntary aides throughout the world for exceptional devotion to the sick and wounded. Miss Elvidge nursed in Malaya during the emergency between 1953 and 1955. In the 50s and 60s and the early 70s she served in Gambia, Cyprus, Uganda, Nyasaland, Kenya, Laos and the New Hebrides.
