: Diana Rigg and Patrick Macnee as The Avengers

Diana Rigg and Patrick Macnee as The Avengers

Sep. 09, 1965 - Diana Rigg in the avengers outfit.: Emma Peel (Diana Rigg) new leading lady of ABC-Tv's tongue-in-cheek thriller series The Avengers, is a more feminine character than her predecessor Cathy Gale. She still wears trousers, but now they are white lace over flesh pink. I think lace over flesh is the sexiest thing a woman can wear says Avengers star Patrick Macnee, who plays John Steed. Diana Rigg proved his point in this catsuit designed by John Bates of jean Varon for her Avengers wardrobe. Simon Ellis sells the catsuit, S/875 for 13 guineas. Patrrick Macnee's contribution to his conversation piece is a self-designed suit in pale great worsted, made by Bailer and Weatherill, with velvet collar, matching bowler, umbrella and suede boots
