Dinner interval at Glyndebourne opera on a hot day
Feb. 02, 1969 - Glyndebourne Traditions Surviving The Heatwave! Despite the scorching temperatures presently sweeping through Britain, traditional behaviour at GLYNDEBOURNE, the home of music lovers, has not altered very much. As is the usual practice, during the dinner interval those who frequent this musical paradise take to the spacious lawns and fields to enjoy a traditional champagne dinner, with the men clad in full evening dress and ladies likewise. Our photographer visited Glyndebourne this week, to see how the guests were coping with the heatwave. The only difference was that many of the gentlemen there could not resist the temptation to remove their jackets and in several cases to reveal braces being worn, although most managed well in keeping bow ties on
