Dec. 26 Hans W. Geissendorfer films Thomas Mann's Zauberberg': Der Zauberberg (The magic hill) written by Thomas Mann, is currently filmed by Hans W. Geissendorfer (in Montreux, Leysin, Interlaken, Berlin and Hamburg). This strip will probably come into our cinemas in February 1982. The story in a short form: For three weeks Hans Castorp, a 24-year-old son of patrician family of Hamburg who lost his parents very early, visited his cousin suffering from a lung desease in the sanatorium in Davos in 1907 after he has passed his engineering examination. At first he appeared strange to the atmosphere but quickly he acclimatized'. then he also falls ill and falls in love with the upsetting Russian woman Clawdia Chauchat and a short time before her departure from the sanatorium he spends a night with her. He decides to wait for Madame Chauchat and finally she comes back to the Berghof but this time unequivocally accompanied by Mynheer Peeperkorn who gets a great influence on Hans Castorp in only a few days before the Dutch mysteriously commits suicide. Castorp's stay at the Zauberberg lasting seven years is replaced by his participation in the First World-War.
