Mar. 07, 1962 - Doctors Issue report on smoking and cancer Stronger government Measures Urged: Sir Robert Platt, President of the Royal College of Physicians, spoke this morning at a press conference to mark the publication of Smoking and Health, a report of the College on smoking in relation to lung cancer. In it, it urged an increase in the price of cigararettes to force people to either give up cigarettes or turn to less harmful pipes and cigars; anti smoking education and publicity; wider restrications on smoking in public places; special clinics to help those who find it hard to give up smoking
