Mar. 03, 1950 - Festival of Britain preparations, rapid progress on the dome of discovery is being made in the construction of the dome of discovery, one of the outstanding features of next year's festival of Britain, which is intended to become the world's largest dome in the shortest time. Artificial lighting will play its part in emphasising the vastness of an interior that has a diameter of 365 feet and a height of 97 feet. The dome aluminium will be nearly as big as Trafalgar Square.
