Jul. 07, 1955 - Donald Campbell prepares for record bid in Bluebird speeding on Lake Ullswater: Donald Campbell son of the famous late Sir Malcolm Campbell is expected to make his attempt on the world speedboat record on Lake Ullswater, Scotland, within the next day or so in his jet speed boat Bluebird which has been modified. In the latest outing his speed was 161.45 mph in bad weather over two runs over the measured kilometer course. The world record is held by the American Stanley Sayers at 178.497 mph.
