Donald Campbell, Speed King, in snowy Surrey

1962 - Donald Campbell Relaxes In The Snow - Before leaving For Speed Attempts In Australia.. Speed King Donald Campbell was to be seen with his gun ad his dog - in the grounds of his home in Horsehills, Surrey - relaxing with a spot of shooting at targets before departure for Australia. he hopes to set up a new world land speed record in his car Bluebird on the Lake Eyre Salt flats in South Australia. Present record of 394.2 m.p.h. was set up by the late John Cobb in 1947. Donald says he is to make the speed attempt without any insurance - for he explained that he has been asked for a premium of 300 for every 1, 000 payable on his insurance policy. Apparently they give me odds of three to one.. Keystone Photo Shows:- The dog does a spot of high jumping - when out with master Donald Campbell at Horsehills, Surrey.
