Donovan, Scottish singer songwriter, in Germany

May 22, 1971 - Rothenburg, Germany - Folk singer DONOVAN (born DONOVAN PHILIPS LEITCH, 10 May 1946) is a Scottish singer, songwriter and guitarist. He developed an eclectic and distinctive style that blended folk, jazz, pop, psychedelia, and world music (notably calypso). In mid-1966, Donovan became the first high-profile British pop star to be arrested for possession of cannabis. It had a serious effect on his career, because of the charges he was refused entry to the US until late 1967. During an 18-month tax exile in Ireland (1971-72), he penned songs for the 1972 film The Pied Piper in which he played the title role.
