Feb. 25 Revolutionary new invalid chair - The Queensway is an invalid chair which was originated by the Design and Inventions Laboratory of the Mechanical Engineering Department of Queen Mary College (University of London), now designed and manufactured by White Batley and Co, of Romfordp Essex. The chair is unique in its simplicity of operation and manoeuvrability, thereby enabling it to used by even the severely handicapped, , The joystick control unit has been developed to operate the chair with the utmost ease. By operation of the joystick the chair is able to rotate on its centre axis in either clockwise or anticlockwise direction. this allows tremendous manoeuvrability and makes it possible to drive to the end of the corridor, revolve on its own axis for 180o and return without having to perform difficult reversing operations. Incorporated within the control unit is a switch offering a fast or slow speed and a removable on-off key.
