Douglas Gomez, firearms expert, with amnesty guns, London

Feb. 02, 1968 - Firearms Surrendered Under Amnesty. During the first twelve days of the firearms amnesty, which started on February 1st, 225 weapons, including 155 revolvers and automatic weapons, and 7344 rounds of ammunition, were handed in to Metropolitan Police stations. Under the terms of the amnesty, persons illegally holding firearms or ammunition can hand them in to police stations until April 30th without fear of prosecution. The firearms which have been handed in were on display today at Rochester Row Police Station.
