Dr David Pitt, possible parliamentary candidate, Hampstead
May 07, 1957 - Black doctor, Dr David Pitt, may stand for election to Westminster. The name of Dr David Pitt a 6ft. 2 inch black man - born in Grenada - has been forwarded by officials of the Hampstead Labour Party as candidate at the next election. If the party chiefs approve the selection Dr Pitt could become an MP. He has lived in Britain, practising as a doctor since 1947. Dr. Pitt says that he is well aware of the colour bar, but if he is elected to stand for Parliament colour would not enter into it
