Dr Edith Summerskill, Irene Ward, Equal Pay Campaign

Mar. 03, 1954 - Equal Pay Campaign Committee presents petition on a visit to the Chancellor of the Exchequer. Members of the Equal Pay Campaign Committee visited the House of Commons this afternoon with a petition signed by eighty thousand people. They travelled in decorated horse-drawn carriages. The first carriage was the one in which Queen Salote travelled to the Coronation. Photo shows Dr Edith Summerskill MP helped by a coachman followed by Miss Irene Ward MP holding the petitions as they left the carriage at the home of the Chancellor of the Exchequer en route for the House this afternoon
