Dr Francis Walsh, Roman Catholic Bishop of Aberdeen
Jul. 07, 1963 - Aberdeen Prelate Decides Not to dismiss his housekeeper after ultimatum from the Vatican. The Rt. Rev. Dr. Francis Walsh, Roman Catholic Bishop of Aberdeen has made it clear that he had no intention of obeying the ultimatum from the Vatican - to turn out his housekeeper. He said, I have come to the decision that I cannot act against my conscience and have informed my superiors to that effect'. The Bishop also indicated that he is not going to resign over the unjust and cruel order made three months ago to dismiss Mrs. Christine Mackenzie, the 42 year old divorced wife of a Church of Scotland Minister.
