Dr Gunther Muller, candidate for Munich mayor, Germany
Sep. 09, 1972 - SPD (Social Democratic Party of Germany) split in Munich - In Munich a new Political party comes into being under the name Social Democrats 1972'. They nominated Dr Gunther Muller, SPD - Bundestag - delegate (picture) as their candidate for lord mayor for the Munich communal elections on June 11th. The group also made their own list for the election according to rules. Muller must now be expelled from the SPD Party and thus also from the Social Democratic Bundestag delegation. The New party is directed against the left pull in the SPD and expects to draw a large number of votes
