Dr Hans Jochen Vogel, Mayor of Munich, Germany

Feb. 02, 1971 - Vogel, Lord Mayor of Munich, Declines his Canditature for 1972: Munich's (Germany) Lord Mayor, Dr. Hans-Jochen Vogel, will have more time for his family if he, as announced on February 18th, leaves his place in the town hall after the end of his present term of office. Dr. Vogel said that his decision, not to stand in the next election 1972 for the Lord Mayor is definite. Difficulties and differences within Munich's Socialist Party between Dr. Vogel and the strongly left orientated Jusos (young members of the Socialist Party) are considered as the main reason for his decision. Photo shows Dr. Vogel with his wife Ilse and his children Sabine, Barbel and Berndt playing cards
