Feb. 26 The Backroom crime buster. 56-year-old Dr Henry James Walls took over one of the world's best-known backroom jobs as head of Scotland Yard's Forensic Science Laboratory, at the head of a team of 50 experts covering dozens of specialised subjects, and dealing with murder, rape and arson. In his position, although he is a scientist, he will be required to be an important witness in criminal cases, and will have to be able to stand up to cross examination by the country's top lawyers and legal brains.
