Nov. 11, 1957 - President Eisenhower's new Space Chief Dr. James Killian: President Eisenhower has announced that he appointed Dr. James Killian as the new Space and Missiles chief of the United States. He will be in command of the Best Brains scientific and engineering talent of the United States and it will be his task to consolidate and accelerate the country's satellite programme. Fellow scientists describe Dr. Killian as the best man available to lead his country in a scientific race with Russia for the conquest of space.
