Dr John Petro arrested for drugs offences, London
Jan. 01, 1968 - Dr. Petro Held At Frost TV Show. Dr. John Petro was arrested by Scotland Yard's Drug Squad 15 minutes after he appeared on the David Frost television show. The 60-year old doctor was taken to Paddington police station and accused of a drug offence. He was refused bail and held in a cell to appear at Marylebone Magistrates Court. He is charged that, being a person authorised to supply drugs, he failed to keep a register and enter particulars about six grains of diamorphine and six grains of cocaine obtained by him. Dr. Petro had appeared on the Frost programme for the second night in succession. he was introduced as Dr. X'. He was confronted by addicts and doctors who questioned him about his prescriptions.
