Dr Konrad Adenauer, German Chancellor, wins election

Sep. 07, 1953 - Resounding victory for Chancellor in West German elections; 77 year old Chancellor Konrad Adenauer learned today that his Christian Democratic Party had gained a resounding victory in the latest German elections. The unofficial returns show that more than 12, 000, 000 West Germans have given his Government backing for his policy of continued collaboration with the west, the communists have failed ignominiously. Even in the Ruhr Cutlery town of Solignen, once a hotbed of communism, they could not get a seat. The Communists received only two percent of the total vote. Photo Shows Chancellor Konrad Adeanuer today after learning of his great victory in the elections in Bonn
