Dr Konrad Adenauer, German Chancellor

1977 - Adenauer was born at Cologne, he has been a lawyer. In 1917 he became Lord Mayor of Cologne. 1933 he had to retire from all his offices. After the second world war in 1945 he was one of the founders of the Christian Democratic Union, 1946 he became chairman of this party in Nordheim-Westfalen and in 1949 he was chosen to be chairman of the CDD. In the same year Adenauer became the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany (till 1963). From 1951 to 1955 he was Foreign Minister, and from 1949 till 1966 he was, without interruption, chairman of the CDU. ueoidos of his work for the intern election of the new federal Republic of Germany, Konrad Adenauer also obtained the accommodation into the toot European union as well as into the North Atlantic Treaty, he took up diplomatic relations to the Soviet union and managed the reconciliation with France, and marked this by the German-prouoh-friendship-contract of 1963
