Oct. 18, 1962 - 18-10-62 British scientists joint winners of Nobel Prize British scientists Dr. Maurice Hugh Frederick Wilkins is joint winner of the Nobel Prize for medicine and physiology with Britain Dr. Francis Harry Compton Crick and American scientist Dr. James Dewey Watson. They were awarded the prized for their discoveries concerning the molecular structure of nuclear acids and its significance for information on transfer in living material.
