Dr Muller-Roschach to be tried for war crimes, Frankfurt
Jul. 07, 1968 - Preliminary proceedings against Muller-Roschach: The General Public Prosecutor of Hessen (county of the Federal Republic of Germany) has opened preliminary proceedings against the German ambassador in Lisbon, Dr Herbert Muller-Roschach, believed to have assisted in the murder of Jews. In April this year Muller-Roschach was heard as a witness in a trial taking place in Frankfurt dealing with the murder of 30, 000 Bulgarian and Hungarian Jews. On this occasion it turned out that the ambassador was identical with the other Dr Herbert Muller, who was responsible for Jewish questions in a department of the Foreign Ministry during the war. After world war II he changed his name by simply adding Roschach'. This fact was unknown to the General Prosecutors until the trial. The Ambassador is suspected of assisting in murder by giving instructions within the Jewish department of the Foreign Ministry
