Dr Radhakrishan, Vice President of India
Feb. 02, 1956 - Mrs. Pandit takes Buddhist relics to India.: When Mrs. Pandit arrived by air in New Delhi last Sunday, she brought with her the sacred relics of Buddhist saints from London. The relics were received by Prime Minister, Mr. Nehru, and handed ever to the Mahabodhi Society of India. The relics, which Mrs. Pandit brought to India, are of ten Buddhist saints, and have been in the British Museum in London for more than 100 years, and which were handed over to Government of India through Mrs. Pandit. She brought three reliquaries - one if which is to be presented to the Government of Ceylon. This container will be presented to Ceylon, and contains the relics of Megaliputta, on whose advice King Asheka sent a mission to Ceylon in 300 B.C
