Dr Rudolf Vrba testifies at trial in Frankfurt

Dec. 12, 1964 - Escapee From Auschwitz Testifies In Frankfurt Trials: The biochemist Dr. Rudolf VRBA, born in Slovakia and now living in London, appeared before the grand jury in Frankfurt, Germany, to testify against the accused former SS-guards of the Auschwitz extermination camp and the former Eichmann aides Hunsche and Krumey, who are facing the court in a separate trial. Dr Vrba, 40, a Jewish man with the birth name Rosenberg, changed his name after he had managed to escape from Auschwitz in April 1944, where he was held prisoner facing death in the terrible gas chambers. After his hearing Dr. Vrba told his story to a policeman and to some unidentified spectators of the trial
