Oct. 6, 1965 - Speaks for President: Dr. Subandrio, Indonesian First Deputy Minister, talks to the press after Cabinet meeting on Oct. 6, 1965 after the abortive communist coup of Oct.1. Subandrio was on tour in Sumatra during the communist coup and military counter-coup of Oct. 1. Subandrio said that the President did not condone the murders of the country's 6 generals. He made a general statement, which left military and religious leaders unhappy because he did not condemn the communist atrocities. Meeting was at Bogor Palace.
