Dr Vitor Constancio, Portuguese economist and academic
Feb. 02, 1978 - Dr Vitor Constancio, Minister Of Finance and Planning Of The 2nd Constitutional Government: Vitor Constancio, The New Minister Of Finance And Planning, Was Born In Lisbon And Graduated In Economics. After His Degree He worked as an Assistant In The Superior Economic Institute. In 1973-1974 He attended the University Of Bristol, UK, a postgraduate course in Economics. Returning To Portugal He Was Elected a Member Of The Directive Council And Executive Commission which, In the Superior Economic Institute Assumes The Powers Of Ancient Directive Organs. He Was Also Elected To The Managers Corporation Of The Sedes. On 30th May 1974 he became Secretary Of State for Economic Planning Of The 1st Conditional Government led by Professor Palma Carlos, Being Exonerad In July 11th. Vitor Constancio is now a member of the Group Of Six In Belem Recently Charged By The President Of The Republic To Make A Report About The Diagnosis And Prospects Of The Portuguese Economy. He is Vice-Governor Of The Bank of Portugal And President Of The Commission Of Integration Of Portugal In The EEC. He is also a member of The Economics Team For Negotiations With The International Monetary Fund (IMF)
