Dr Wilhelm Harster to be tried for war crimes, Munich

Jan. 01, 1966 - Former SS-Brigade-Leader and former Gestapo-chief of the Netherlands, Dr Wilhelm Harster, 61, was arrested in Munich, Bavaria today (13.1.1966). Harster is accused of assistance in general massacres, in ordering the execution of 83, 000 Jews. After the war Harster was a Bavarian civil servant (1959-1963) and in 1963 he was pensioned. The proceedings will be in Munich
