Duke of Edinburgh, 50th birthday present, book

Jun. 06, 1971 - Birthday Gift For Prince Philip Who Is 50 Tomorrow: The Twelfth Man reaches his half-century tomorrow so this morning The Lord's Taverners went to the Palace to present Prince Philip with a special eve-of-birthday present. Their gift was a specially bound presentation copy of The Twelfth Man a 304 page anthology containing contributions from writers, artists, sportsmen and show business personalities, all of whom have offered an original piece of work of their own choice as a 50th birthday present to Prince Philip. All royalties from the sale of the book will be placed in a special fund for Prince Philip to distribute to charities of his own nomination. The book editor by actor Martin Boddey. President of the Lords Taverner Prince Philip has been a patron and Twelfth Man of the Lords Taverners for 21 years and during that time has constantly sustained member in their efforts for charity.
