Duke of Edinburgh, Archbishop of Canterbury, London
Nov. 11, 1958 - It makes you laugh: The Duke of Edinburgh rocks with laughter and is joined by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Fisher (C), and Dr J A Fraser, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland (R), when the former arrived in the foyer of the Royal Festival Hall, London, last night, to attend a concert given in aid of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme. The scheme was started in 1956 as a limited experiment initially for boys and to be operated by schools, youth organisations, industrial firms and other bodies which have in their care boys between the ages of 14 and 19 years. The scheme embodies groups of leisure activities comprising rescue and public service training expeditions, pursuits and fitness. The scheme is administered by Sir John Hunt, of Everest fame
