Duke of Edinburgh at Clapham House hostel, London
Nov. 11, 1971 - Duke of Edinburgh meets an old Comrade when he dedicates Clapham House: When The Duke of Edinburgh shook hands with Mr. Tom Knott, 59, today, on his visit to an east London hostel for ex-prisoners with an alcoholic problem, he was meeting a man who knew him during the war when he was a Royal Navy sub-lieutenant. Prince Philip dedicated Clapham House, a Home Office-backed hostel run by the Bow Methodist Mission. Mr.Knott, a former occupational therapist, was released earlier this year into the care of Mission, said yesterday: I was in the R.A.F. at St.Mawgan, Cornwall and he used to visit a public house I used.
