1958 - Duke of Edinburgh drives a Saladin armoured car The Duke of Edinburgh today paid a visit to the Army Fighting Vehicle Research and Development Establishment at Chobham, Surrey. After a tour of inspection, he went for a drive over the tough 1 miles testing course in a Saladin armoured car at a speed of up to forty miles an hour. He took the controls himself.
