Dec. 12, 1959 - The duke of edinburgh flies in the hovercraft : The duke of Edinburgh flew in a helicopter from Buckingham palace to cowes. Isle of wight, this afternoon, and then had a flight in Britain hovercraft S.R.N.1. designed to operate at a height of a bout 15 inches above land or water at a speed of about 25 knots.
