Duke of Edinburgh filming at Lime Grove Studio
Jul. 07, 1957 - Duke of Edinburgh opens International Geophysical year on television.: Booms, lights and cameras all trained on the Duke of Edinburgh as he tells the story of the International Geophysical Year to the viewers of the B.B.C. Television from the Lime Grove Studios, Shepherd's Bush, London. Behind the Duke can be seen the Master Map, and to the right, partly blocked out by a camera is the six-foot glass globe of the world. The television broadcast by the Duke of Edinburgh and a similar broadcast by President Eisenhower in America, opens the International Geophysical Year, which is to last for eighteen months, and in which countries all over the world are participating
