Jun. 06, 1970 - Celebrating 100 Years of Polo in Great Britain, Prince Philip in fall. Wearing 1870 polo dress at Windsor yesterday, Prince Philip and Earl Mountbatten acted as umpires during a match between the 9/12 Lancers and the Royal Hussars- commemorating 100 years of Polo in Britain. Later in the afternoon Price Philip fell during a match. He tore ligaments in his right shoulder and was taken to hospital for x rays, later he was allowed to return to Windsor Castle.
