May 05, 1958 - Duke of Edinburgh visits new playing fields: H.R.H, The Duke of Edinburgh yesterday paid a visit to the site of the new playing fields at Wanstead Flats, Essex. His tour of the fields had to be abandoned when he was mobbed by a huge crowd of enthusiastic children. He had a struggle getting through then to his car. Photo shows the Duke surrounded by the excited happy youngsters during his visit
