May 07, 1955 - A Real Sizzler from the Duke opens Finsbury sports centre. H.R.H. The Duke of Edinburgh yesterday opened the 38 acre Finsbury Memorial Sports Centre at Borehamwood. the duke travelled by helicopter. The centre cost 70, 000 and took 7 years to complete.
