Jul. 07, 1953 - The Duke of Edinburgh is thrown in Polo game.: The Duke of Edinburgh's polo pony Turkam fell with the DUke still in the saddle during a match yesterday. Crowds watching the game at Cowdray Park, Sussex, sheered as he got up, stood still for a moment to recover, ran after the pony and remounted it. His team, Cowdray Park, beat Beechwood 6-1 to win the junior county cup final. Photo shows the Duke seen in action just before he was thrown during the game yesterday
