Aug. 08, 1971 - Prince Charles gets his Wings : Prince Charles collected his wings at the royal air force college, cranwell, today. He was presented with the Wings by chief of the air staff, air chief marshal Sir Denis spotswood. watching in the crown among other proud parents was the duke of Edinburgh in his uniform of Marshal of the royal air force. Prince Charles was one of 20 pilots presented with his wings in a passing out parads of 33 graduate entrants. later this year the prince joins the royal Navy.
