Aug. 08, 1953 - Duke of Edinburgh drops out of Yacht race. Bluebottle limps in.: H.R.H. The Duke of Edinburgh at the helm of his yacht Bluebottle had to drop out 20 minutes after the start of his first race at Cowes Regatta today. Bluebottle returned to her base under reduced sail - the job was down - the forestay had carried away. Photo shows the Bluebottle limping towards the yacht Fairwood after retiring from the race with a broken forestay
