Sep. 8, 1964 - Paris, France - EDWARD VIII was King of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions beyond the Seas, King of Ireland, and Emperor of India from the death of his father, George V. Edward VIII had met and fallen in love with a married American woman, Mrs. Wallis Simpson. He realized he had to choose between the Crown and Mrs Simpson who, as a twice-divorced woman, would not have been acceptable as Queen. In 1937, Edward was created Duke of Windsor and married Wallis Simpson. PICTURED: Duke of Windsor dancing with Regine - The Queen of The St. Germain des Pres Nights one of the dancers of Square Dance
