Earl Mountbatten appointed Colonel Commandant

Oct. 10, 1965 - Ceremony in Honour of Earl Mountbatten.: A ceremony in honour of Admiral of the Fleet Earl Mountbatten of Burma, on the occasion of his appointment as a Colonel Commandant of the Royal Marines, took place today at the Royal Marines Barracks at Eastney, Southsea. The ceremony included a parade in which Marines appeared equipped for all aspects of warfare undertaken by the Corps. The Duke of Edinburgh was present as Captain General of the Royal Marines to welcome Lord Mountabtten. Photo shows Earl Mountbatten has glass of beer with CPL.
