Feb. 02, 1979 - Maomi Uemra Of Japan Wins Valour In Sport Award: The annual Valour in Sport Award (Known as the V.C. of Sport) was won by Naomi Uemura iof Japan, aged 37, who become the first man to reach the North Pole alone, across the frozen Attic Sea. During his Career Uamura has conquered Hont Blanc, Matterhon, Mt McKinley, Everest and many other summits, . East feat accomplished alone.
