Sep. 09, 1981 - Mrs. Thatcher opens new Egyptian gallery at British Museum; The Prime Minister Mrs. Margaret Thatcher opened the reorganized Egyptian Sculpture Gallery at the British Museum yesterday. The Gallery was first opened in 1834 and was last comprehensively reorganized in the mid - 1930s. After opening the exhibition Mrs. Thatcher took a closer look at some of the sculptures. Photo shows visitors inspect a statue of Rameses II (r) and a figure of Osiris in a limestone shrine
