Oct 15, 1954; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; More than 15, 000, 000 persons were eligible to vote in the recent Brazilian elections, in which 1, 200 candidates stood for the 69 places, to decide the composition of the new Congress and two-thirds of the Senate. In addition 11 new governors are being elected. The election follows the death of Dr. Vargas.
