Nov. 11, 1971 - Election of a New Pope of Alexandria: Some 700 representatives of the Egyptian Orthodox Coptics took part recently in voting to elect a new Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Marc diocese to succeed Pope Kyrollos the Sixth who died last March. The voters represent Egyptian Coptics according to occupation and distribution over the governorates and include 40 representatives of the Ethiopian Church.
