Jun. 16, 1988 - Flying Saucer Takes Off for the ELO: The most expensive rock stage set ever seen in London at a cost of 250, 000 can now be seen at the Empire Pool, Wembley this week. The gigantic flying saucer takes off to the sound of the Electric Light Orchestra. Built out of glass fibre and designed by Tele-Stage Associates of Bury St Edmunds, the Saucer's top lifts off to reveal ELO playing to 8, 000 people each night. This top half which contains the show's lights weighs four-an-half tons and rises 25ft off the stage
