Apr. 18 Marilyn's A Walkin Talkin Livin Doll! The Japanese have used their electronic wizardry for almost everything. But you never thought microchips would take the place of a flesh-and-blood screen screen goddess. Well, now there's an electronic Marilyn Monroe, complete with guitar, singing River of No Return in a husky voice in Japan, This latest brainchild of an electronics expert can change her facial expression 45 different ways and even wink. The secret is using tiny cylinders in place of traditional motors and all the materials used including the skin are as authentic as possible. Marilyn has been on display in Sannomiya in western Japan recently and has amazed passers-by with her incredible likeness. She cost her maker about £28, 000 to build but has been recouping this quickly with public appearances. The only mishap suffered so far by this bold challenger to the original star was a broken arm with an over-eager child at an amusement park couldn't resist touching her.
