Jun. 11, 1980 - June 11th 1980 50th birthday of Ellen Schwiers - On June 11th 1930, the actress Ellen Schwiers was bom in Stettin as daughter of the actor Lutz Schwiers. She first came into connection with the stage at her father's theatre in Marburg, as prompter and supernumerary. In Koblenz, she got her first engagement in 1949. In the same year she got her first film part in Heimliches Rendezvous under the direction of Kurt Hoffmann. More than 50 films followed, for example: 08/15, Anastasia, die letzte Zarentochter and Der Gauner und der liebe Gott'. In 1961 and 1962 she played at the Salzburg Festival in Jedermann the part of the Buhlschaft (paramour). At the Burgfestspiele in Jagsthausen she directed the Shakespeare comedy Was ihr wollt (Twelfth Night). She is married to the producer of cultural films Peter Jacob and has two children. Her 22 year old daughter Katerina Jacob is a well known actress herself in the meantime, having started an international film career.
