Elsa Silbernagel, stewardess on German railway
Mar. 03, 1960 - Elsa wants to ask Mr. K. to release her father: Krushchev's influence does not only hit the French diplomats: it forces 28-year-old German railway stewardess Elsa Silbernagel to sit idle in Paris. In her vacation, she travelled to the French capital to hand a note to the Kremlin boss asking him to release her father from custody. Herman Silbernagel, before the war teacher in Bjelaja Zerkiew near Kiev, Ukraine, was displaced by Soviet Secret Police in 1941 to Kazakhstan. The Russian Red Cross in 1953 arranged the first contact with his family who fled to Burtenbach near Ulm in Southern Germany. - On a trip as stewardess in the Trans-Europ-Express, Elsa met the famous violinist David Oistrach who promised to take care of the matter. Now she tried to have her vacation prolonged so that she will be able to wait for Mr. Krushchev's planned arrival in Paris on March 23rd, 1960.
